Puerto Rico – Part 2 [ Travel ]

This post really only covers one day! One full day of total fun. I am still not quite sure how, but I convinced Bob to go ziplining on the edge of the rainforest and it was a BLAST! All 3 of us loved it. The company, Yunke Zipline Adventure, we went through was amazing. We had the owner as our guide along with a trainer/builder/inspector of ziplines. So we were safe! They can’t technically set up zipline courses in the national park, but the area is basically the rainforest and it was so beautiful.

After the first one and they both enjoyed it. WAHOO!

I had permission to take photos while zipping, and this is a view as you’re going and the next photo is a view to my left. What a sight! Stunning rainforest.

After and guess what, they survived!

After ziplining we headed to the national rainforest, El Yunque. We made a few stops including a tower with quite a view and then we chose the Palo Colorado trail to arrive at La Mina falls for a short swim in the chilly water.

Puerto Rico – Part 1 [ Travel ]

The week of 4th of July my mom, sister, Bob and I went to Puerto Rico to celebrate my upcoming birthday. I had too many favs for one post, so there will be 3! Woot. We stayed in Luquillo, a small town right on the edge of the rainforest and it was a perfect place to call home for a week.

A few of the mornings we got up and worked out on the beach. Let me tell you waking up with a caribbean beach 1 block away is quite a treat. This was out view.

We went to visit Las Cabezas de San Juan Nature Preserve. Las Cabezas has a mangrove forest, lighthouse, a lava beach and the bioluminescence bay that we visited.

This is when we went on an adventure and found “Las Paylas” natural waterslides. The website I found said to travel along a road and watch for las paylas signs along the road. Pay $5 to park in a guys driveway/yard and hike down. And an adventure it was but SO worth it. This was one of the [ many ] highlights for me.

When we turned around at the bottom of the slide we saw these rocks. Over the hill was another waterfall and a large pool of water with rocks to jump off of. This area was stunning.

Bioluminescence bay evening! Before, during and after. I’m pretty bummed that my camera wasn’t able to pick up any of the glow but it was incredible. The adventure included a 45 minute kayak, in the complete darkness across an ocean bay and through a mangrove forest. Needless to say, it stressed Bob out! We arrived in the bay and got to touch the water, interact with it and explore a little bit. Then another 45 minute kayak back out, against the tide coming in.

Mint | Teal | Wine [ Color Inspiration ]

The bridesmaids photo is where this weeks inspiration came from. Not just in what they’re wearing but also the wall behind them. I love the surprise combination of the bold rich teal and wine tones with the soft pastel mint color. I challenge you to mix unexpected colors and see what you can come with. [ Enjoy ]
